Five Audiobooks for the Whole Family
When you have multiple kids and multiple ages you end up with many opinions and interest levels. Finding an audiobook that will please everyone is a challenge!
My kids range in age from 2-12. Here are five of our favorite audiobooks that we all enjoyed.
1. The Penderwicks by Jeanne Birdsall. You can't help but love the Penderwick children. They each have a strong personality and yet support and love each other very much. This series has five books that follow the
children on adventures as they grow up.

2. The Land of Stories by Chris Coffer. This is the series that got us through the COVID-19 quarantine. We listened to all six books over the course of several months. These books give new dimensions to traditional fairy tales as Alex and Conner Bailey fall into the Fairy tale World and discover that the stories they grew up with are true and that their Grandmother is the Fairy Godmother!
3. Chitty Chitty Bang Bang by Ian Fleming. You've probably seen the movie, but did you know there are four books in the Chitty Chitty series? The first is by Ian Fleming, the remaining three by Frank Cottrell-Boyce. They are full of imagination, dating adventures, outlandish escapes and unique characters. We loved them all.
4. The BFG by Road Dahl. All of my children have been captivated by the BFG. Such a kind creature living in such extreme circumstances. And of course we root for him and little Sophie to overthrow the ugly, mean giants. This book is not part of a series, but Road Dahl has written several other gems including Matilda, Charlie and the Chocolate Factory, and Danny the Champion of the World.
5. Pippi Longstocking by Astrid Lindgren. We couldn't stop giggling over the unconventional antics of Pippi. She's a fun loving girl raising herself and doing her best. I think all of my children were grateful for parents to tuck them in after this book. There are three books in the series. And if you like the writing style, try The Children of Noisy Village, also by Astrid Lindgren about a picturesque village in Sweden and it's many children.
